Athletics

Tammy was born into an active family that loves sports. Prior to her accident she was a competitive figure skater and an avid fan of playing outdoor hockey with her brothers. After her injury and recovery Tammy was introduced to Para Sports at a two week camp. After this introduction she began to play wheelchair basketball and competed for the Canadian National team winning gold at an international tournament called Gold Cup. After a break from sports she joined a gym and became involved in many sports and activities. She competed in triathlon and handcycling, learned to alpine sit ski, took up paddle boarding and in general loves being outside and active. All of this background led her down the road to Rio and the 2016 Paralympic Games.
